About The Role
As our next Mechanical Engineer reporting to the Senior Mechanical Engineer and supporting the Statutory Mechanical Engineer, you will form an integral part of our Maintenance team while working collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results. Within this role you will be responsible for providing engineering and project management support to the maintenance team including:
• Continual auditing, monitoring and improvement of site practice and standards for statutory compliance with:
* Legislation
* Australian Standards
* Mine Design Guidelines
* Industry and Thiess Safety Alert mandates and recommendations
* Mandates and recommendations within Thiess business standards, procedures and guidelines
• Mobilisation of new and used assets to site including:
* Asset inspections
* Planning/coordinating defect repairs
* Critical inspection report reviews
* Coordinating asset requests
• Facilitating risk assessments
• Implementing and coordinating effective change management practices
• Planning/coordinating statutory and critical asset inspections
• Drafting/designing initiatives, upgrades and improvements to maintenance equipment/process requirements for certification and fabrication
• Developing, reviewing and coordinating mechanical improvements on downtime/reliability issues
• Developing outcome driven cost-effective solutions to technical and process efficiency based problems
• Supporting and coordinating maintenance facilities/infrastructure projects, incident investigations and reporting
This is a residential role working 5 days on 2 days off roster with monthly RDO’s
• Mount Arthur South mine site is located close to the township of Muswellbrook in the beautiful Hunter Valley.
About You
We are looking for someone early into their mechanical engineering career and as such, no formal site based mechanical engineering or heavy mining equipment is required however any experience including vacation placements is highly beneficial. To be successful in this role you will possess strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with key internal and external clients. You will also be able to provide/ demonstrate:
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience in asset management/maintenance will be highly regarded
• Experience using, developing or managing document control systems
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Autodesk Inventor (CAD software) skills will be highly regarded
• A positive, self-motivated attitude and drive to learn
• Understanding of safe work practices
• Understanding of outcome driven cost-effective solutions
• Understanding of Australian Standards
• Strong report writing skills
