What you’ll do

This role provides engineering support and technical advice to operating sites, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements while driving innovation in mining equipment, fixed assets, and infrastructure. You will play a key role in improving asset strategies, supporting statutory compliance, and mentoring graduate engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and technical advice to operational sites and asset management teams.
  • Assist with statutory compliance, regulated inspections, and risk assessments for plant and equipment.
  • Support improvement projects and ensure successful implementation across operations.
  • Identify technical improvements and contribute to innovation in asset strategies.
  • Mentor graduate and student engineers within the team.
  • Promote safety leadership and ensure compliance with Thiess Safety Essentials.
  • Contribute to environmental initiatives and innovative solutions to reduce operational impact.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Your clear communication, both spoken and written, enhances the flow of ideas and information. You'll enhance stakeholder experiences with exceptional service and drive innovation within a collaborative, diverse team setting. Upholding integrity, you'll contribute to a culture built on trust.

  • Engineering Degree in a relevant discipline, or Associate Degree in Engineering with relevant trade qualification. 
  • Technical knowledge of mining assets, particularly heavy mobile equipment. 
  • Understanding of legislative requirements and international standards in a mining environment. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems. 
  • Contract management skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and think laterally to solve operational issues.
