About the role 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Surveyor to join our Pembroke Resource’s Olive Downs Complex project in the Bowen Basin.

This autonomous project, located 40 kilometres southwest of Moranbah, began operations in early 2023. Thiess has secured a five-year contract to deliver comprehensive mining services, including mine planning, overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul (autonomous & manned), water management, rehabilitation, and infrastructure construction.

Working a 5/2 4/3 roster and reporting to the Technical Services Manager, your duties will include:    

  • Ensure that all necessary records are collated and filed in accordance with company policy, statutory and contractual requirements
  • Be responsible for delivering the total survey requirements of the project, including day-to-day survey pickups/setouts, monthly volume pick-ups, end-of-month reporting, and complying with statutory requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Supervision of the 2 rostered surveyors
  • Provide survey support and assist the production crews in the planning process
  • Establish and maintain a system of survey marks adequate to complete survey work
  • Ensure survey data is recorded and stored as per project management standards
  • Ensure all incidents are reported in accordance with the appropriate Incident Notification, Recording, Investigation and Reporting Procedure
  • Conduct EOM pickups and volume calculations using remote sensing (UAV Photogrammetry and Maptek Scanning) methods and prepare EOM Survey reports

  • Proven experience in open-cut mining 
  • A tertiary qualification in surveying or equivalent 
  • Experience with Vulcan, Point Studio Agisoft software
  • A commitment to the practice of health and safety always
