The Opportunity

Roster: 8/6 | Location: Eva Copper, Queensland | Employment Type: Fulltime - Fixed Term Contract until October 2027

Are you a Health and Safety professional with a passion for operational excellence and innovative solutions? Thiess is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Health and Safety Advisor to join our dynamic team at the Eva Copper Mine Project in the Cloncurry region of Queensland, Australia. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering safe, efficient, and sustainable mining operations, driving technical excellence and supporting project success.

As a key member of the Eva Copper Alliance team, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality mine planning and mine engineering processes to support safe, efficient operations and ensure our workforce meets Thiess and industry standards.

Working an 8/6 roster and reporting to the Manager, Health and Safety, your duties will include:

• Contribute to the maintenance of the safety management system (SMS), compliance and implementation of the SMS
• Develop and review Management Plans and processes to ensure compliance and currency
• Assist in the facilitation and development of risk assessments
• Conduct and support front line leaders in incident investigation
• Facilitate injury management and return to work processes 
• Assist Supervisors and employees with the Return-to-Work process by developing proactive and timely strategies including individual health management plans
• Drive a strong safety culture and liaise with other departments to ensure achievement of the site's safety objectives 
• Assist with the coordination of the occupational hygiene monitoring program with the site service provider
• Assist in the development and delivery of health promotion initiatives for Eva Copper workforce
• Develop and participate in site Health and safety communications including, pre-start, return to work and toolbox meetings

• A genuine passion for the safety and health of our front-line personnel  
• Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety
• Sound Knowledge of Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act and Regulation
• G1, G8, G9
• Workplace Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator
• Incident Investigation (ICAM Lead Investigation)
• The ability to populate and facilitate risk assessments (RIIRIS402 Carry out the Risk Management Processes)
• Ability to build strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders 
• Drug and Alcohol Testing (HLTPAT005 Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing) (Desirable)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
