The Opportunity 

We are seeking an experienced Drill & Blast Supervisor to control blasting operations on-site and be responsible for the coordination of drilling activities at Pembroke Resource’s project in the Bowen Basin - the Olive Downs Complex. 

This autonomous project, located 40 kilometres southwest of Moranbah, began operations in early 2023. Thiess has secured a five-year contract to deliver comprehensive mining services, including mine planning, overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul (autonomous & manned), water management, rehabilitation, and infrastructure construction.

About the role

Working an 8/6 shift roster and reporting to the Drill and Blast Superintendent, your duties will include:

  • Accountable for leading safe, efficient, and effective blasting
  • Working towards cost optimisation through the effective utilization and care of plant and personnel
  • Responsible for the effective leadership, training, and development of the Blast Crew
  • Ensure that drilling and blasting production targets and efficiencies are maximised and carried out in a cost-effective manner

  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential
  • QLD Shotfirers ticket is required
  • Coal mining experience is required
  • Demonstrated experience leading a high-performing team
