What you’ll do

This role is critical in enabling informed, commercial decisions around the redeployment, repair and disposal of idle assets across the business.

Reporting to the Group Manager, Asset Estimating and Fleet, you will undertake site-based inspections across storage locations, assess asset condition, identify defects, estimate repair requirements and provide clear, practical recommendations to support operational readiness and value recovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visit asset storage locations across the business to inspect idle plant and equipment
  • Assess asset condition and identify defects, issues and repair requirements
  • Categorise assets into defined readiness-to-work categories
  • Develop and maintain a catalogue of idle assets and associated condition data
  • Prepare repair budgets and cost estimates for individual assets
  • Support fleet inspections associated with tendering and estimating activities
  • Provide inspection and site support for asset disposal activities
  • Work closely with regional fleet, asset and maintenance teams to enable effective redeployment decisions
  • Actively promote Thiess’ safety, compliance and sustainability standards

What you’ll bring

You are an experienced industry professional with a strong background in maintenance, plant or fleet environments, bringing a practical understanding of equipment condition, repair requirements and cost estimation. You are commercially astute, confident working autonomously in the field, and able to influence outcomes through clear communication and effective stakeholder engagement across diverse teams.

  • Extensive industry experience with 10+ years in maintenance, plant or fleet operations
  • Strong technical capability, including knowledge of equipment repairs, cost estimation and OEM parts/support systems
  • Commercial and risk awareness, enabling sound, value-driven decision-making
  • Strong communication and computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and the ability to engage and influence stakeholders
