Become the Future Talent of Thiess
We are looking for a diverse group of enthusiastic and talented individuals to kick-start their trade careers through the Thiess 2026 Mid-Year Apprenticeship Program. Completing an apprenticeship at one of our mines in Queensland or New South Wales means joining the Future Talent of Thiess.
Thiess offers a four-year structured program, designed to develop some of the best tradespersons in the resources industry.

- The program commences on Monday, 29 June 2026
Requirements
- Have completed a minimum of Year 10 with good results in English and Mathematics. (For current Year 10 students, a provisional Australian driver’s licence is required. Not required for mature-age applicants over 21.)
- Hold a current Australian driver’s licence (provisional accepted).
- Be self-motivated and demonstrate a mature attitude to complete the required studies.
What you receive upon completion
- A Nationally recognised Trade Qualification
- Standard 11 (QLD only)
- First Aid Certificate
- Working at Heights Certificate
- College fees and associated costs paid for by Thiess
- The chance to work with and learn from some of the best tradespersons in the industry

- Heavy Equipment Diesel Fitter
- Fabricator/Boilermaker
- Automotive Electrician
- High Voltage Electrician
- Light Vehicle Mechanic
Apprenticeships are offered across QLD and NSW projects, with positions and locations subject to change.
QLD Sites:
- Caval Ridge
- Olive Downs
- QCoal Northern Hub
- Lake Vermont – Workshop
- Eva Copper
NSW Sites:
Preference will be given to applicants living near the above sites due to travel and relocation considerations
