About the Opportunity
Thiess is seeking expressions of interest from experienced mining leaders ready to step into a dynamic Mining Manager role supporting operations across our large‑scale, autonomous and highly exciting projects in the Bowen Basin. This opportunity allows you to influence performance, uplift culture, and lead high‑performing teams across two of our flagship sites.
As Mining Manager, you may lead the mining departments and subcontractor teams to deliver on production, safety, and cost objectives. Leveraging your strong technical expertise and proven leadership capability, you will mentor and empower Mining Superintendents and Supervisors to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
This role is critical in ensuring both projects operate efficiently and in alignment with Thiess standards, values, and strategic priorities.
The primary focus of the role is to lead our mining operations teams while championing accountability and integrity by:
- Building and mentoring a strong, collaborative team aligned with Thiess and project objectives
- Safely maximising production and trucking efficiency by embedding correct operating procedures
- Drive a High Performance Culture, and create a positive working environment for employees to Speak Up
- Work collaboratively with site leadership to ensure mine plans and schedules reflect high but achievable targets
- Maintaining a strong focus on budget and production financials, driving cost efficiencies where possible
- Driving continuous improvement by taking an innovative approach to problem solving and embracing technology
- Managing contractual obligations consistently while fostering positive relationships with our client
