The Eva Copper Mine Project is located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People in North West Queensland, approximately 75 km north-west of Cloncurry and about 95 km north-east of Mount Isa. 

The Project is an iron-oxide copper-gold resource featuring multiple open pits and is poised to become the largest greenfield copper mine in Queensland.

The opportunity: 

Roster: 8 Days on, 6 Days off | Location: Eva Copper, Queensland | Employment Type: Fulltime

Are you an experienced survey professional with a strong focus on accuracy and operational excellence? Thiess is seeking a skilled and motivated Surveyor to join our high-performing team at the Eva Copper Mine Project in the Cloncurry region of Queensland, Australia.

As a key member of the Eva Copper Alliance team, you’ll be responsible for delivering high‑quality survey activities to support safe, efficient operations and ensure our workforce meets Thiess and industry standards.

Working an 8/6 roster and reporting to the Senior Surveyor, your duties will include:    

•  Apply survey operational and technical guidelines across all field activities and provide practical feedback to support ongoing improvements.
•  Carry out routine field checks and inspections to ensure work meets approved survey standards, procedures and statutory requirements.
•  Contribute to improving survey workflows and field systems to lift efficiency, accuracy and overall cost effectiveness.
•  Support accurate spatial data capture and ensure data can be integrated into broader mine planning and operational systems.
•  Capture, validate and maintain spatial data so it remains accurate, traceable and useful for downstream stakeholders.
•  Coordinate survey tasks with site teams to ensure priorities are understood and work is delivered in line with operational needs.
•  Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders so scope, timing and expectations are understood upfront.
•  Complete survey requests within agreed timeframes or proactively communicate any constraints and revised delivery expectations.

About you 

• 3+ years’ experience in a Mine Surveying environment
• Proven experience in open-cut hard rock mining 
• A tertiary qualification in surveying or equivalent 
• Experience with Vulcan, Point Studio Agisoft software
• Understanding of EOM calculation and reconciliation requirements
• Proficient in relevant survey software including Maptek Point Studio
• Proficient in photogrammetry software and remote sensing capture
• Knowledge of mine operation regulatory and legislative requirements
• A commitment to the practice of health and safety always
