The opportunity
Thiess is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead our Maintenance team and ensure mobile plant reliability at our Caval Ridge Project.

As the Maintenance Manager, you’ll be accountable for the safe and effective delivery of all maintenance activities on site. You will oversee people, processes and performance to ensure our operations meet business, client, environmental and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining heavy mining equipment/mobile fleet, including workshop operations and breakdown management.
  • Proven leadership capability managing large maintenance teams (Superintendents, Supervisors, trades) with a strong focus on safety and performance.
  • Strong knowledge of Qld Coal Mining Safety & Health Act, statutory compliance, incident investigation and risk management processes.
  • Proficiency in maintenance planning, budgeting, cost control and use of CMMS systems (e.g., JDE).
  • High-level stakeholder engagement skills with ability to influence across Operations, Technical Services, OEMs and subcontractors.

Team & Reporting

  • You will report directly to the Project Manager and lead a team including Maintenance Superintendents and Supervisors 
  • You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders—Mining Manager, Technical Services, Asset Operations and more—as well as external partners including subcontractors, OEMs, suppliers and regulatory bodies.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Trade qualification, Engineering Degree or equivalent.
  • Experience maintaining heavy mining equipment or mobile fleet in a large‑scale mining environment.
  • Strong leadership capability, including mentoring, coaching and developing supervisors and superintendents.
  • Proficiency in maintenance planning, budgeting, cost control and CMMS (e.g. JDE).
  • A commitment to safety, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across Operations, Technical Services and Asset Management teams.
