The Eva Copper Mine Project is located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People in North West Queensland, approximately 75 km north-west of Cloncurry and about 95 km north-east of Mount Isa.

About the role
Thiess is currently recruiting a Senior Project Engineer for the Bulk Earthworks at our Eva Copper Mine Project, located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People, 75 kilometres north of Cloncurry and 95 kilometres north-east of Mount Isa.
This role is being offered as a max-term contract through to October 2027, providing a great opportunity to be part of an exciting new project!
Reporting to the Principal Civil Engineer, you will provide onsite construction engineering support ensuring the safe execution of the Project.
Key responsibilities in this role will include:
Contributing to or leading the design, assessment, and review of creek diversion and related infrastructure
Supporting technical analysis, including geotechnical, civil, or hydrological modelling
Preparing high-quality reports, designs, and project documentation
Leading or contributing to site investigations, inspections, and audits
Supporting or managing client relationships, project delivery, and proposal development
Providing mentorship to junior staff and contributing to a culture of technical excellence and collaboration
Engaging with multidisciplinary teams including water, environmental, geotech, and mine planning professionals
About you
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in civil construction (2+ years will be considered)
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent
Experience leading or mentoring engineers or supervisors
Strong focus on governance, reporting and delivery performance
Ability to manage safety, schedule and cost effectively
Confident communicator with solid stakeholder management skills
Australian work rights are required for this position
