What you’ll do

Reporting to the Manager, Mining Technologies, this role is responsible for deploying, supporting and optimising fleet management and operational technology systems across Thiess sites. You will work closely with site, project and corporate stakeholders to ensure system availability, strong user engagement and alignment with business needs. This role involves some local and interstate travel, with potential international travel depending on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, support and optimise Fleet Management Systems (FMS), High Precision GPS, payload and fatigue monitoring systems across multiple sites
  • Provide Level 2 and 3 systems support, including hardware, software and network troubleshooting
  • Lead and support OT system deployments, commissioning and go‑live activities
  • Design, deploy and optimise Wi‑Fi and kinetic mesh networks for mining environments
  • Coordinate internal teams and external vendors to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget
  • Act as a technical escalation point for project and vendor issues
  • Conduct system audits and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, procedures and training materials
  • Deliver training to operators, engineers, supervisors and technicians
  • Promote strong safety leadership and ensure compliance with Thiess safety standards and procedures

What you’ll bring

You are an experienced mining technology professional with a strong engineering background and a proven ability to support, deploy and optimise complex operational technology systems.

  • Degree in Software, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ mining industry experience, including OT systems support and analysis
  • Proven experience managing complex technical projects and fleet management / machine guidance systems
  • Strong knowledge of OEM sensor interfaces with SQL capability (PowerBI highly regarded)
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with a proactive continuous‑improvement mindset
  • Current C Class driver’s licence
