The Opportunity

Thiess is seeking an experienced Maintenance Leading Hand at our high performing Peak Downs project.

Roster: 7/7| Location: Peak Downs | Employment Type: Fulltime

As the Maintenance Leading Hand, you will:

• Lead your crew ensuring everyone works safely and efficiently.
• Perform servicing, repair, and maintenance in accordance with Thiess servicing, lubrication, and maintenance systems documentation.
• Source technical information including, technical bulletins, OEM, and computer-based systems, be able to read and understand schematics – electrical and hydraulic.
• Ensure good housekeeping standards are always maintained.
• Carry out quality work.
• Step up and cover for the Maintenance Supervisor in his absence.
• Maintain radio communications for shift activities.
• Manage parts requirements for work.
• Warehouse control on night shift
• Make sure all work is performed in a timely manner

About you

• G1, G8, G9 (formally S1,2,3) and G2 supervising certificates and experience in supervising maintenance activities on an operational mine.
• Relevant diesel fitter / heavy vehicle trade qualifications
• Proven experience with Caterpillar, Leibherr and Komatsu mining equipment
• Post-trade operational mine site experience
• Experience in service, maintenance, breakdowns, component change outs and effective diagnostic skills.
• Safety focus with a high attention to detail
• Computer system JDE
• Oil analysis and interpretation.
• OEM computer-based systems
