The Opportunity

As Senior Specialist Asset Estimating is responsible for developing and reviewing plant rates and maintenance cost estimates for tenders as required

As the Senior Specialist Asset Estimating, you will:

  • Take a lead role within the team in working towards financial goals ​
  • Follow and encourage adherence to business processes relevant to their work ​
  • Demonstrates a broad understanding of Thiess’ functional structure and commercial interests
  • Works autonomously and with minimal oversight to complete most work activities ​
  • Provides input and advice to other team members and stakeholders when asked ​
  • Builds rapport and strong working relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Listens and communicates clearly to influence stakeholders (verbally and in writing).​
  • Actively keeps team members and stakeholders informed of work activities and outcomes
  • Understand operational factors that impact the costs that effect overall assets cost
  • Liaise with Planning Support to assist with the development of life asset strategies.
  • Carry out strategy budget reviews to ensure assets achieve lowest life cycle cost
  • Liaise with OEM’s and Thiess content experts to ensure asset rates are in line with most accurate cost
  • Review project asset financial results and assist projects with developing and understanding their budgets.
  • Carry out periodic and as required adjustment of plant rates on existing projects for break-even results
  • Provide asset inputs for the tender build up including but not limited to the following: -
    • Asset Rates ·
    • Asset Labour Rates, Quantities and Organisational Charts
    • Capital Requirements and Timing
    • Cash Flow inputs
    • Mobilisation and Demobilisation Costs
    • Facilities requirements

About you

  • Trade Qualified or University Degree from engineering
  • 3-5yrs experience in operational role/s
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) Macro/VBA experience would be beneficial
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal) are required
