The Opportunity

Thiess has an exciting opportunity for an Asset Specialist - MT 4400 on a full time permanent role based in Perth with regular site travel.

Reporting to the Group Lead, Global Haulage Support, you will be responsible for driving best practice asset management and maintenance with respect to Off Highway Mining trucks and associated equipment within the Thiess Group Operations to ensure best availability, reliability and optimal performance. 

In this role, you will:

  • Provide high quality technical support and implement best practice solutions on MT4400 fleet.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Identify commercial opportunities from OEMs and other suppliers that will reduce overall operating costs of Assets.
  • Strive for cost efficiencies where possible while not compromising safety.
  • Deliver global consistency of asset configuration in relation to safety, performance and reliability.
  • Initiate and lead group initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in relation to fleet performance, mechanical availability and mean time between failure.
  • Identify opportunities for product improvement, haulage fleet performance, and escalate major product issues to ensure timely resolution.
  • Understand the whole of life equipment strategy to ensure approved works align with fleet and asset strategies.
  • Liaise with regional Asset Managers when supporting project maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical leadership in relation to haulage fleet maintenance activities.
  • Travel to site as required to provide maintenance team mentoring, support major shutdowns and asset relocations.
  • Review and communicate innovations and improvements to key stakeholders that are identified through OEM, industry and project engagement.
  • Demonstrate safety leadership in your behaviour and your interactions with others.
  • Promote, encourage and foster the safety culture within Thiess Group.

About you

  • Trade qualification / Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications / experience.
  • Experience in maintenance operations with large mining equipment.
  • Project Management experience in major shutdown works and machine relocations.
  • Subcontractor Management experience.
  • Strong leadership experience supervising crews in a maintenance environment.
  • Expertise in reading technical documents, manuals and schematics.
  • Strong understanding of preventive maintenance procedures and the ability to perform technical troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in implementing preventive maintenance initiatives for optimal performance and longevity.
  • Competent with using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
