The Opportunity

Are you a skilled and safety-focused Industrial Painter with a passion for maintaining heavy mining equipment? Thiess is seeking experienced and motivated Painter to join our high-performing team at Batam Rebuild Centre.

As a key member of the Batam Rebuild Centre team, you'll be responsible for Carry out surface preparation, painting, coating, touch-up, and finishing activities on heavy equipment and components in accordance with the company's quality, safety, and production standards.

As the Painter, you will:

  • Carry out surface preparation activities, including cleaning, grinding, sanding, and masking.
  • Perform painting using spray guns, airless spray systems, and other painting equipment.
  • Prepare and mix paint materials in accordance with specified requirements.
  • Apply primer, intermediate coats, and top coats to the required standards.
  • Ensure paint finish quality and coating thickness meet company specifications.
  • Perform touch-up work and rectify paint defects where corrective action is required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including painting tools and equipment.
  • Comply with all company health, safety, environmental (HSE), and work procedures.

About you

  • Minimum Senior High School (SMA) or Vocational High School (SMK) qualification or equivalent. A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, Industrial, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Painter. Experience in Heavy Equipment Painting, Industrial Painting, Automotive Painting, Fabrication, and Coating is highly regarded.
  • Good understanding of surface preparation and finishing processes.
  • Ability to operate spray guns and other painting equipment.
  • Knowledge of masking techniques and paint application methods.
  • Understanding of basic coating systems and paint specifications.
  • Basic knowledge of quality inspection for painting results.
  • Ability to work within required timelines and meet quality standards.
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety (HSE).
  • Disciplined, reliable, and accountable.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates initiative and willingness to learn.
  • Good communication skills and strong work ethics.
