Working in a strategic Alliance with Thiess and Harmony, you will form part of a collaborative team, driven by shared objectives and values to deliver operational excellence at the Eva Copper Mine Project. 

The Alliance will set new benchmarks for safe, sustainable and efficient copper development, supported by commitments to local employment and procurement, new-to-industry and Indigenous workforce development and meaningful engagement in the local community.  

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of defining, building and operating a major mining operation.  

The Eva Copper Mine Project is located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People in North West Queensland, approximately 75 km north-west of Cloncurry and about 95 km north-east of Mount Isa.  

The Project is an iron-oxide copper-gold resource featuring multiple open pits and is poised to become the largest greenfield copper mine in Queensland.

While this role forms part of the Eva Copper Alliance, employment will be ongoing with Thiess, with recruitment and employment managed by Thiess.  

The opportunity:  

Roster: 8 Days on, 6 Days off | Location: Eva Copper, Queensland | Employment Type: Permanent Fulltime 

Thiess is seeking a Project Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will report to the Finance & Administration Manager where you will provide professional advice and support to the project regarding its financial accountability and controls whilst ensuring financial performance targets are achieved. 

Working a 8/6 roster your duties will include: 

  • Ensure timely completion of EOM deliverables and reports 

  • Facilitate monthly cost reviews including analysis of key variances to budget 

  • The key contributor to cost build ups for the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes 

  • Drive financial awareness across the site and ensure financial practices are in line with company policy 

  • Ensure financial risks are identified at an early stage 

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external key personnel and stakeholders 

About you  

  • CPA or CA qualified (or in progress) 

  • Relevant years of post-qualification experience – mining or heavy industry experience would be highly regarded 

  • Previous JDE experience highly regarded 

  • Proficient in MS Office, strong emphasis on Excel 

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with high attention to detail 

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and multi-task as required 

  • Drive safety, culture, and productivity in a team environment 

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and influence across the site
