The Opportunity

Are you an experienced maintenance leader with a passion for operational excellence, reliability and people leadership? Thiess is seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Superintendent to join our high-performing team at Peak Downs Mine, Queensland.

As a key member of the Peak Downs team, you'll be responsible for leading maintenance execution, asset performance, reliability improvement and workforce engagement initiatives to ensure safe, predictable and cost-effective equipment availability aligned to production objectives.

Roster: 8/6 Day Shift Only | Location: Peak Downs Mine, QLD | Employment Type: Full Time

As the Maintenance Superintendent, you will:

  • Lead, coach and develop Supervisors and Planners through visible leadership, capability development and succession planning initiatives.
  • Oversee and coordinate daily and weekly mobile maintenance activities to ensure safe, efficient and reliable operations.
  • Drive equipment reliability, asset performance and maintenance strategies that support production targets and business objectives.
  • Manage team performance, allocate resources effectively and maintain accurate records to support informed decision-making.
  • Foster a high-performance culture while ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational requirements.

About you

  • You are a collaborative and results-driven leader with extensive experience in open cut mining maintenance and a commitment to achieving exceptional outcomes through your team.

    To be successful in this role, you will possess:

    • Trade Certificate, Engineering Degree or equivalent qualifications.
    • Minimum five years' experience in a similar leadership role within the mining industry.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach, mentor and develop teams.
    • Strong commitment to health, safety, environment and community outcomes.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure operational environment.
    • Experience with maintenance management systems, with JDE experience highly regarded.
    • Strong budgeting and cost management capability.
    • Experience in maintenance planning, contract management and asset management.
    • Proven success driving culture change, continuous improvement and business performance.
