We are seeking an experienced Employee and Industrial Relations, Senior Advisor (WA & Global) to join our People team. The Opportunity

Reporting to the Employee and Industrial Relations Compliance Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining and analysing wage rate information for Thiess employees nationally. You'll work closely with Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Payroll and Talent Acquisition teams to ensure compliance with industrial instruments while driving data-led insights and continuous improvement initiatives.

Reporting to the Group Manager, Employee & Industrial Relations, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering employee and industrial relations strategies, enterprise bargaining activities, workplace investigations, advocacy matters and capability development across the business.

In this diverse and influential role, you will:

  • Provide expert employee and industrial relations advice across Thiess operations and wholly owned subsidiaries
  • Lead and support enterprise bargaining activities, negotiations and agreement administration
  • Conduct and manage complex workplace investigations, grievances and employee relations matters
  • Partner with operational and People leaders to implement strategic ER/IR initiatives and workforce solutions
  • Represent and advocate for the business in matters before the Fair Work Commission, Human Rights Commission and other industrial tribunals
  • Assist in responding to union activity, industrial disputes and other workplace relations matters
  • Contribute to labour and workforce strategies for new projects and tender opportunities
  • Develop organisational capability through coaching, mentoring and the delivery of ER/IR training programs
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Legal, People, Health and operational teams, along with external legal providers and regulatory bodies
  • Contribute to ER/IR projects and identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and ways of working.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Significant experience in employee relations, industrial relations, employment law or workplace relations
  • Demonstrated experience managing workplace investigations, bargaining, dispute resolution and compliance activities
  • Experience appearing before or supporting matters involving the Fair Work Commission and other employment-related tribunals
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment and industrial relations legislation and its practical application
  • The ability to provide commercially sound advice while balancing business objectives and legal risk
  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and relationship-building skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, with admission as a solicitor highly regarded
