About the Graduate Program

The Thiess 2027 Graduate Program provides the opportunity to learn, develop and gain exposure to our business and the mining industry, working alongside experienced professionals who will support your learning and development journey.

Whether your passion lies in Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Finance, or Legal and Industrial Relations, our graduate program offers meaningful, hands-on experience and the opportunity to contribute to real projects from day one.

As a Thiess Graduate, you will have access to structured on-the-job training, guided development plans, mentoring and professional development opportunities. Over our two-year program, you will complete up to two 12-month rotations across our coal and minerals mining operations, gaining valuable exposure to different projects, teams and business functions.

The program is designed to help you build technical expertise, develop professional skills and establish a strong foundation for a successful career with one of Australia's leading mining services providers.

About the Opportunities

As a Graduate, you'll be an integral part of our team, gaining hands-on experience while working alongside experienced professionals across our mining operations and corporate functions.

Through meaningful projects, structured development and on-the-job learning, you'll build technical expertise, develop professional skills and gain valuable exposure to the mining industry. Whether your passion lies in engineering, surveying, finance, legal or industrial relations, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to real business outcomes while building a rewarding career with Thiess.

We are seeking graduates from the following disciplines:

  • Surveying
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Finance, Accounting or Commerce
  • Law, Human Resources or Industrial Relations

Throughout the program, you'll collaborate with diverse teams, develop a strong understanding of our business and gain practical experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Opportunities are currently available across our Australian operations and corporate offices. Locations are indicative only and subject to change based on business requirements and program placements.

About You

Our ideal applicant will:

  • Be completing or have completed a relevant Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Law, Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related discipline
  • Have demonstrated a Grade Point Average of 4.5 or higher (QLD) or equivalent Weighted Average Mark (NSW)
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills
  • Be adaptable, collaborative and eager to learn
  • Hold a driver's licence and ability to travel to site where required
  • Be eligible for full working rights in Australia upon commencement
  • Be free from a bond or commitment to any other employer
  • Be willing to relocate to your placement location for the duration of the Program, where required
  • Be available to commence in our 2027 intake period
