The Opportunity

Are you a qualified Auto Electrician with strong diagnostic skills and experience working on heavy mobile equipment with a passion for electrical systems, fault finding and delivering high-quality equipment rebuilds? Thiess is seeking experienced and motivated Auto Electrician to join our high-performing team at Batam Rebuild Centre.

As a key member of the Batam Rebuild Centre team, you'll be responsible for carrying out electrical inspection, diagnosis, repair, testing and commissioning activities during the rebuild and maintenance of heavy mining equipment, ensuring equipment is returned to service safely, reliably and to a high standard.

As the [Position Title], you will:

• Perform electrical inspections, troubleshooting, repairs and testing on heavy mining equipment and components throughout the rebuild process.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, control, monitoring and communication systems using appropriate diagnostic tools and technical information.
• Complete electrical installations, wiring, testing and commissioning in accordance with manufacturer specifications, workshop procedures and safety standards.
• Payload system, monitoring system, engine ECM, Transmission ECM, Hydraulic ECM, VIMS, VHMS, Minestar, Product link.
• Troubleshoot CANBUS communication systems and machine monitoring systems

About you

• Minimum High School (Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics or Automotive Electrical)
• Minimum 4 years experienced in  heavy equipment, electrical maintenance or rebuilding
• Relevant Auto Electrical qualification/trade certificate with proven experience working on heavy mobile equipment, preferably within the mining or heavy equipment industry.
• Strong electrical diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with experience in 24V/12V systems, sensors, control systems, wiring harnesses and electronic components.
• Experience working on heavy mining equipment such as haul trucks, excavators, loaders, dozers and other mobile plant will be highly regarded.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and workmanship, with the ability to work effectively in a workshop-based rebuild environment.
