The Opportunity

Thiess is seeking an experienced Field Supervisor – Excavators & Drills, to join our team at Gruyere on an 8/6, 7/7 roster (DS:NS), FIFO from Perth. The Gruyere Gold Project is located within the Yamarna Greenstone belt approximately 200km east of Laverton in Western Australia.

As the Field Supervisor you will be responsible for the daily supervision of the onsite excavator fleet which includes Liebherr R9600, R9400, R9200, R9150, Caterpillar 6060 Shovel and Komatsu PC1250. In addition, this role will oversee our drilling fleet of Sandvik DP1500 series, Leopard 650, 410i platform and Caterpillar 6250

In this role, you will:

  • Lead, coach and develop team members by setting clear expectations, monitoring performance and mentoring others. 
  • Manage and execute maintenance work using efficient equipment servicing strategies to achieve targeted service times and schedule compliance rates. 
  • Supervise the performance of servicing, repair and maintenance of Liebherr, Komatsu and CAT Excavators and Sandvik, Leopard and Caterpillar drills and other equipment as directed in accordance with Thiess servicing, lubrication and maintenance systems procedures.
  • Possess sound knowledge of servicing requirement principals for asset maintenance.
  • Source technical information from the relevant available reference manuals, technical bulletins, and computer-based systems.
  • Supervise and support crews to effectively meet daily safety and maintenance targets for the project.
  • Provide technical information to staff and operations personnel.

About you

  • Trade Qualified Plant Mechanic or mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years mining experience with exposure to supervision of maintenance.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience working on Excavators and Drills.
  • Strong leadership experience supervising crews in a maintenance environment.
  • Commitment and compliance to health and safety at all times
  • Statutory Declaration Training Supervisor certification S26.
  • Current drivers licence (HR desirable)
