About the project

Working in a strategic Alliance with Thiess and Harmony, you will form part of a collaborative team, driven by shared objectives and values to deliver operational excellence at the Eva Copper Mine Project.

The Alliance will set new benchmarks for safe, sustainable and efficient copper development, supported by commitments to local employment and procurement, new-to-industry and Indigenous workforce development and meaningful engagement in the local community.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of defining, building, and operating a major mining operation.

The Eva Copper Mine Project is located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People in North West Queensland, approximately 75 km north-west of Cloncurry and about 95 km north-east of Mount Isa.

The Project is an iron-oxide copper-gold resource featuring multiple open pits and is poised to become the largest greenfield copper mine in Queensland.

While this role forms part of the Eva Copper Alliance, employment will be ongoing with Thiess, with recruitment and employment managed by Thiess.

 

The opportunity

Are you highly organised with a passion for Civil Construction? Thiess is seeking experienced and motivated Site Engineers to join our high-performing team at the Eva Copper Mine Project in the Cloncurry region of Queensland, Australia.

As a key member of the Eva Copper Alliance team you will report to the Project Engineer, you’ll be responsible for working collaboratively to deliver high-quality plans and designs for our civil works.

Roster: 2:1 | Location: Eva Copper Project, QLD | Employment Type: Max Term Contract ending October 2027

As the Site Engineer, you will:

Design civil construction components for both permanent and temporary works. 

  • Liaise with the Senior Engineers and Civil Superintendent to improve processes and clarify design requirements
  • Ensure civil operations are executed efficiently and cost-effectively
  • Perform duties as a Quality Management Representative
  • Report daily progress, non-compliance issues, and work delays to the Construction Manager
  • Conduct regular inspections of job sites to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement
  • Actively monitor the work environment to identify and mitigate hazards
  • Assist with quality and safety audits
  • Implement technical and safety requirements for the project
  • Oversee and monitor daily quality control procedures
  • Track daily production and ensure adherence to cost and schedule targets
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of work practices. 

About you

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • 1–2 years of experience in civil construction projects, preferably in a Tailings Storage Facility and/or Mining environment
  • A current, valid Australian driver’s licence
  • Possession of a White Card
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, with intermediate to advanced skills.
