The Opportunity
As Oracle HCM Application Specialist within the People Systems team, you will support and enhance Thiess's HR systems and technology landscape, applying strong technical and functional expertise in Oracle HCM Cloud configuration, integrations, and data management to deliver reliable system solutions and process efficiencies that improve the employee and leader experience across the business globally.
Reporting to the Manager, People Systems, you will provide timely, high-quality technical support to the HR team and broader business, including the scoping, implementation, and optimisation of HR systems projects to ensure accurate, consistent, and efficient outcomes.
As the [Position Title], you will:
Operational BAU Support
• Act as the first and second point of contact for Oracle HCM issues raised by the global workforce through the ticketing system.
• Be the HR domain expert and HCM functional specialist for the implemented modules including Core HR, Talent, Performance, Goals,
Recruitment, Onboarding and Compensation & Benefits.
• Support strategy and roadmap formulation for Oracle HCM and other HR systems, supporting the Manager, People Systems.
• Triage, investigate, and resolve incidents and service requests within agreed service levels.
• Provide ongoing L2/L3 functional and technical support for production issues, service requests, and change requests, ensuring SLA-driven system stability.
• Make system configuration changes, correct data, and troubleshoot issues across HCM modules.
• Keep clear records of resolutions, configurations, and known issues.
• Escalate complex issues to Oracle Support or implementation partners (CIMIC / Oracle / WIPRO) where needed.
Projects
• Own end-to-end delivery of HCM rollout projects, from requirements and solution design through configuration, data migration, cutover, and hypercare support.
• Support the rollout of Oracle HCM across different geographies, and Thiess businesses working with regional HR, Payroll, and IT stakeholders.
• Define integration requirements between Oracle HCM and other systems, and resolve integration issues.
• Take part in fit-gap analysis and recommend target-state design and process improvements.
• Present project updates, steering committee papers, and post-implementation reviews to leadership.
Enhancements
• Identify opportunities to improve systems and processes based on user feedback and recurring trends.
• Support the design, testing, and roll-out of new features, functionality, and quarterly Oracle updates.
• Drive continuous HCM optimisation and automation of operational tasks and reporting.
• Build and maintain reports and dashboards using BI Publisher and OTBI for actionable HR insights.
• Support change impact assessment and user communication or training for new enhancements.
Commercial & Stakeholder Relationships • Look for cost efficiencies where possible, without compromising safety.
• Engage others by focusing on common ground and shared objectives.
• Consult with stakeholders before making decisions.
People & Leadership
• Work towards plans to achieve team and business goals.
• Support others to deliver results and improvements.
• Coordinate effectively across teams and manage issues, conflict, and problems as they arise.
• Build collaborative relationships with global HR functions.

• Know and apply the standards and procedures relevant to your role. Stop the job if in doubt, fix the problem, or warn others of danger.
About you
Formal Education
• Bachelor's and/ or master's degree in technology, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
• Oracle HCM Cloud certification(s) advantageous.
Work Experience
• 3+ years' experience working with Oracle HCM / Fusion.
• In-depth experience with Oracle HCM modules including Core HR, Talent, Performance, Goals, Recruitment, Onboarding and Compensation & Benefits.
• Experience supporting or delivering Oracle HCM Cloud implementation projects, ideally across multiple countries spread across diverse businesses.
Technical Skills
• Strong domain knowledge of HR, Payroll, Time & Attendance and Talent management processes is a must
• Strong technical and functional knowledge of Oracle HCM Cloud, including configuration, integrations, and data management.
• Confident troubleshooting skills, able to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently within a ticketing environment.
• Understanding of system integrations (e.g., middleware, third-party HR platforms) and data governance principles.
• Able to translate business requirements into practical, scalable system solutions.
• Proficient in MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
• Well-developed written and oral communication, with excellent attention to detail.
• Comfortable working with stakeholders across Mining Operations, HR, Payroll, IT, Finance and business leadership in different regions and time zones.
• Strong understanding of HR processes and associated workflows.
