About the project

Working in a strategic Alliance with Thiess and Harmony, you will form part of a collaborative team, driven by shared objectives and values to deliver operational excellence at the Eva Copper Mine Project.

The Alliance will set new benchmarks for safe, sustainable and efficient copper development, supported by commitments to local employment and procurement, new-to-industry and Indigenous workforce development and meaningful engagement in the local community.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of defining, building, and operating a major mining operation.

The Eva Copper Mine Project is located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People in North West Queensland, approximately 75 km north-west of Cloncurry and about 95 km north-east of Mount Isa.

The Project is an iron-oxide copper-gold resource featuring multiple open pits and is poised to become the largest greenfield copper mine in Queensland.

While this role forms part of the Eva Copper Alliance, employment will be ongoing with Thiess, with recruitment and employment managed by Thiess.

 

The opportunity

Thiess will provide specialist civil construction services at Eva Copper a greenfield mine in North West Queensland, located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People, 75 kilometres north of Cloncurry and 95 kilometres north-east of Mount Isa.

Thiess Is seeking a Civil Supervisor to join our team, providing a great opportunity to be part of an exciting new project!

Roster: 2:1 | Location: Eva Copper, QLD | Employment Type: max-term contract through to October 2027

Reporting to the Civil Superintendent, you will be responsible for leading and supervising daily operational activities while promoting a safe, productive, and high-performing work environment.

As the Civil Supervisor, you will:

  • Lead and direct the day-to-day activities of the workforce to achieve operational and production targets
  • Ensure all work is undertaken in strict accordance with project and contract Health, Safety and Environmental Management Plans, statutory requirements, company policies, and industry quality standards
  • Effectively manage the procurement and allocation of plant, equipment, materials, and resources to support operational requirements
  • Verify that personnel are appropriately trained, competent, and authorised to perform allocated tasks, ensuring additional training or reassignment is undertaken where required
  • Conduct and facilitate risk assessments, including Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), prior to the commencement of work and review them regularly for ongoing activities
  • Drive a strong safety culture through visible leadership, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives

About you

To be successful in this role you will require the following: 

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar supervisory role
  • Previous crushing operations experience (highly desirable)
  • Strong understanding of plant and equipment operational best practices, with a focus on achieving production targets safely and efficiently
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritise, and coordinate activities and resources
  • Intermediate level computer skills
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence
  • Construction Industry White Card
