The Opportunity
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Principle Asset Estimator to join our team and play a critical role in developing accurate maintenance, component rebuild and asset lifecycle cost estimates that underpin major project and operational decisions.
About the Role
Reporting to the Group Manager – Asset Estimating & Fleet, you will lead the development of detailed cost models, collaborate with operational stakeholders and provide strategic asset cost analysis to support tender submissions, budgeting and long-term maintenance planning.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Develop and review plant rates and maintenance cost estimates for tenders as required.
- Carry out periodic and as required, adjustment of plant rates on existing projects for break even result.
- Prepare tender submissions, quotations and commercial proposals.
- Identify opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of Estimating through development of the tools utilised.
- Analyse project costs for monthly result reviews and tender benchmarking.
- Complete asset life reviews considering operating costs, major component cycles, ownership costs and overhaul requirements.
- Provide input into asset selection for new work based on idle or new fleet availability, considering productivity, reliability, and cost.
- Specify workshop infrastructure design including tooling and support equipment for effective maintenance of mobile fleet on existing and new projects.
- Support Operations and Asset team in asset management administration process (asset setup, movements, capitalisation, strategies, budgets).
- Provide leadership and mentoring to estimators and planning personnel.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Extensive experience estimating within mining, heavy mobile equipment or mining maintenance environments.
- Strong understanding of mobile plant maintenance strategies, component rebuild programs and asset life cycles.
- Trade qualification in Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics, Engineering, or similar discipline.
- Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability.
- Advanced Excel and cost modelling skills.
- Experience with CMMS systems.
- Exposure to tendering and contract pricing within mining services.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
