The $8.3 billion Sydney Metro North West is Australia’s biggest public transport project. The Sydney Metro North West will be Australia’s first fully-automated rail system and the first stage in Sydney’s new rapid transit network.

NRT Systems Joint Venture (SJV) is an unincorporated, integrated joint venture between MTR Corporation and UGL. The joint venture has been formed to deliver the Trains and Systems scope for the Sydney Metro North West. SJV will design and deliver the tunnel systems, rolling stock, rail signalling and overall control systems for the project.

Reporting to the Senior Cost Controller you will provide support in the maintenance of operations level of project cost accounting, including actual costs incurred, outstanding commitments, and forecast costs to complete, providing overall integrity of numbers reflected in the budgets, forecast, management reports and financial accounts in order to satisfy the statutory and operational requirements and demands of external and internal stakeholder.

Key responsibilities will include:

Preparation and maintenance of annual revenue and cost budgets, forecasts and business plans

 

  • Preparation of monthly / quarterly and annual project cash flows
  • Review and participation on project reviews to ensure actual costs and costs to complete are forecast in line with agreed procedures, thereby assuring management of the integrity of the forecast results
  • Assistance in preparation of any corporate annual tax returns in so far as assessing provisions and allowances in project costs
  • Monitor on a monthly basis, the works in progress to ensure claims recoveries from customers are managed to improve cash flow
  • We are seeking candidates with:
  • A finance/commerce or business degree

Solid cost control experience at a senior level, working in major infrastructure projects with in depth knowledge and experience to back up your tertiary qualifications

  • A self-starter individual with excellent interpersonal, communication skills and strategic thinking abilities
  • A proven capability to manage complex situations with exceptional problem solving skills
  • Be team oriented, customer focused, accountable and results driven
