Myer is looking for a motivated Junior Category Buyer to help deliver a compelling and profitable Myer Exclusive Brands range. In line with the Myer Merchandise Strategy and Customer First Plan, this role supports the development, buying, and execution of the buyership plan. You’ll work closely with the Senior Category Buyer Developer and/or Category Buyer Developer while taking ownership of the end‑to‑end management and financial performance of your aligned buyership.

- Full accountability and end-to-end management of the Menswear categories
About the Role:
- Understanding of Brand DNA producing a quality range to Myer standards
- Developing overall brand price architecture that is competitive and aligned to meet the Myer Merchandise strategy goals and metrics
- Developing and supporting Myer core lines
- Maintaining solid competitor and trend analysis to remain relevant and build a range to suit the market
- Develop and deliver product strategies for the aligned category within the portfolio, with direct links to Myer’s overall strategy and relevant customer segments
- Accountability for trading a component of the category and implementing appropriate tactical activities in relation to sales, profit, stock to drive business outcomes
- Work collaboratively with the planning team to determine assortment plans, conduct PSA, build product strategy, and determine best sourcing methods for the product
- Optimise product profitability through product development process
- Drive the marketing plan in collaboration with the planner
- Manage complete range development, order placement and financial performance of the business
- Accountable for range execution including marketing, store planning and visual merchandising
- Assist in negotiation to deliver optimised trading terms that deliver commercial targets
- Accountable for financial performance including budgets and pricing
- Accountable for the marketing and communications strategy specific to category and inline with the Myer Strategy
- Accountable for establishing good direct supplier relationships to drive brand performance and deliver on key metrics
- Collaborate and influence Planning, Buying, Design, Support and Store teams
- Influence at senior levels
- Mentor and coach junior team members
- Understanding of the market, customer segmentation, trends and competitive landscape
- Store demographic understanding and analysis from a category and localisation perspective
About You:
- 2-3 years experience in a Buyer/Developer Trainee role or 3 years’ experience in a similar buying or product development role
- Bachelor degree/diploma in one of the following fields would be preferable but not essential: Fashion Textiles and Merchandising, Fashion Merchandise Management, Commerce, Marketing, Retail Management, Business Management, Economics
- Production technical expertise
- Ability to identify future trends
- Sourcing knowledge and understanding
- Keen negotiation skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Retail, financial and business acumen
- Strong understanding of manufacturing process
