The Opportunity:

As a Video Editor for News at Seven, you will play a vital role in delivering authentic and engaging news content that brings all Australians closer to the moments that move us. You will be responsible for editing high-quality news stories with speed and accuracy, working within a dynamic, server-based news environment.

In this full-time role (38 hours per week on a rotating roster across seven days), you will work closely with the Seven Melbourne News Team.

Based at our brand new, state of the art offices in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, and reporting to the Chief Editor for News, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Editing news video content using Quantel video editing systems
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision and under tight deadlines
  • Ensuring fast, accurate, and creative editing to produce compelling news segments
  • Collaborating with journalists and production staff to deliver timely news coverage
  • Maintaining quality and consistency in a fast-paced newsroom environment

About You:

You will be a proactive, creative, and detail-oriented Video Editor with a strong passion for news and current affairs. Experienced in fast-turnaround news editing, you thrive under pressure and have the ability to work autonomously and independently under tight deadlines.

You will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in news video editing
  • Proficiency with Quantel or similar video editing systems
  • Experience working in a server-based news environment
  • Strong creativity and dynamic work ethic
  • Interest in news and current affairs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Calmness and focus when working under pressure and with conflicting priorities
