What does the job look like?

The Rail Planning & Resources Officer is responsible for ensuring that Linfox train services are commercially and operationally optimized, compliant, and delivering customer service outcomes. We currently have a permanent position available on a rotating roster between AM/PM each week. AM shifts will be Mon 8am – 6pm then Tues – Fri 6am to 1:30pm and then PM shifts will be Tues – Fri 11:30am – 8pm and then Sat 7am – 2pm. Key Areas:

  • Maximizing the revenue yield of each train service through precise planning to ensure that the optimum mix of freight is loaded on each train service, ensuring length and weight are utilized to full capacity.
  • Train services are planned in accordance with rail track owner guidelines and relevant legislation.
  • Review and maintain capacity model with customer permanent bookings.
  • Ensuring all wagons are correctly allocated on each train service in order to convey customer freight to end and intermediate destinations.
  • Ensuring customer freight is being transported to the end destination in line with customer expectations and requirements.
  • Daily reporting of train utilization statistics.
  • Liaising with internal team members with changes to standard operating plans when train services have restrictions imposed by track owners.
  • Assist Train Services Supervisor in planning and organizing track closure events.

Are you the one?

  • Min 2 years’ experience in a logistics background
  • Rail-based work history is highly regarded
  • Experience in planning, coordinator, and analytical-based roles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Dangerous Good knowledge is desirable
  • Strong knowledge of Word and Excel
