What does the job look like?

As the Operations Manager, you will be passionate about the logistics industry, your people, and our customers, and will relish the opportunity to lead by example. This exciting opportunity at our Distribution Centre in Laverton. You will be responsible for maintaining an efficient and productive warehouse team working in collaboration with our people, with every decision you make driven by safety, service, and cost. By partnering closely with the Distribution Centre Manager, you will ensure we exceed operational and service metrics while finding opportunities to introduce continuous improvement initiatives. Key areas:

  • Lead the strategic and operational direction of the VIC Distribution Centre in line with company values, objectives, and service expectations.
  • Develop, coach, and engage leaders and team members, fostering a performance-driven and accountable culture.
  • Provide hands-on leadership to direct reports and warehouse teams to deliver safe, efficient, and high-performing operations.
  • Ensure effective utilisation of labour, equipment, and resources to maximise productivity and operational outcomes.
  • Analyse weekly and monthly KPI reporting to identify opportunities for improvement and drive performance in line with financial budgets.
  • Proactively engage with external labour agencies to address workforce demands and manage labour shortages.
  • Drive continuous improvement across safety, productivity, service, and cost by developing, reviewing, and updating warehouse processes and procedures.
  • Champion health and safety compliance, ensuring all policies, procedures, and legislative requirements are followed.
  • Develop, coach, and engage leaders and team members, fostering a performance-driven and accountable culture.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and key internal Stakeholders, Customer Service, Transport & External Stakeholders .

This is a pivotal role that requires a strong manager with previous operations management experience. You will be able to shape an inclusive and accountable culture in a fast-paced environment and will have a wealth of experience providing leadership and effective commercial and operational decision-making.   • You bring demonstrated P&L ownership at a senior level, with a deep understanding of operational cost drivers, budgeting, and commercial decision-making.
  • You operate with a highly structured and disciplined approach, balancing big-picture objectives with close attention to operational detail and execution.
  • You communicate with impact and credibility across all levels—from frontline teams to senior stakeholders—driving alignment and decisive action.
  • You are a driven and accountable leader with strong personal integrity, earning trust through consistency, reliability, and follow-through.
  • You are an experienced coach of leaders, capable of developing supervisors and managers while remaining actively involved in frontline performance and outcomes.
  • You set clear expectations and drive accountability, ensuring standards, processes, and behaviours are consistently applied across the operation.
  • You are a collaborative senior team player who can quickly embed into the business, take ownership, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • You bring extensive, hands-on experience in logistics and operations management, ideally within complex warehouse or distribution centre operations.
