What does the job look like?

An exciting opportunity has become available to join our Self-Insurance team as a Workers' Compensation Claims Manager. Reporting to the General Manager, Comcare & Commercial HR, you will manage a portfolio of workers' compensation claims, support injured employees through recovery and return to work, and partner with a broad range of stakeholders across the business. This role offers the opportunity to further develop your expertise in claims management, injury management, rehabilitation and Comcare legislative frameworks within a highly regarded self-insurance environment.

This role is based onsite in Brisbane CBD. 

Key responsibilities:

• Managing a portfolio of workers' compensation claims in line with Comcare requirements and service standards
• Gathering, assessing and reviewing evidence to support fair and timely claim determinations
• Supporting injured employees throughout the claims process and managing expectations
• Liaising with rehabilitation providers, medical practitioners and specialists to facilitate recovery and return-to-work outcomes
• Maintaining accurate claims records and documentation within the Figtree claims management system
• Preparing evidence-based decisions and ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements
• Managing claim queries, reconsiderations and dispute resolution processes
• Supporting audits and maintaining positive relationships with Comcare and external stakeholders
• Reviewing claim payments, invoices and case data while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
• Building strong relationships with operational leaders, employees and external service providers

About You:

You are passionate about supporting employees through the claims and recovery process and enjoy working in a role that combines stakeholder engagement, problem solving and compliance. You bring strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships while navigating sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.

You can demonstrate

• Experience in workers' compensation, claims management, insurance, rehabilitation, injury management, legal administration, case management or a related field
• Knowledge of evidence gathering, documentation and decision-making processes
• Experience working within legislative, compliance or regulatory frameworks
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to manage sensitive conversations with professionalism and empathy
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Knowledge of Comcare legislation, self-insurance or return-to-work frameworks will be highly regarded
