What does the job look like?
Reporting to the National Commercial Manager – New Business development, the position of Commercial Analyst is responsible for providing support for:
- Develop and maintain commercial and financial models and processes for analysing new business opportunities including development of Capital Approval Models (CAM)
- Support development of commercial business cases for new business opportunities and other key business growth initiatives
- Support existing operations, continuous improvement activities, and new business acquisition through strategic analysis and rate proposal development.
- Maintain, update and benchmark Bevchain standard operational rate cards for key warehouse and transport activities
- Collaborate closely with finance and operational teams to assess the financial impacts of operational decisions and changes.
- Serve as a key driver of growth, development, and performance improvement within the organization.
The Commercial Analyst is also responsible for the continuous improvement support and where appropriate lead the change management processes to improve the effectiveness and productivity of the department especially focused on new business operational implementation. The successful candidate will also identify and recommend standardisation of pricing practices across the business to remove risk of revenue leakage
Key areas include:
People:
- Create and maintain positive working relationships to maintain a team-based culture of trust, co-operation, and communication.
- Foster an environment of continuous improvement by challenging existing ways of doing business and investigating new opportunities for improvement.
- Provide support in finance and commercial related issues to operations.
Systems:
- Provide analysis of reported data to assist senior management in understanding business performance.
- Prepare and use department KPI data as a basis for decision making.
- Provide analysis and support in budget and forecasting processes to operational teams.
Operations:
- Prepare CAM's (Capital Approval Model) to support ELT and Board approval processes.
- Prepare financial models to facilitate RFP response (including basic rate cards for non-RFP processes).
- Co-ordinate and prepare weekly/monthly reports:

- Generate performance based financial reporting.
- Generate exception reporting against agreed financial KPI’s.
Customers:
- Maintain positive relationships with existing and proposed customers.
- Liaise with BevChain head office functions, BevChain Operations, Linfox shared services and Linfox fleet department where appropriate.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Business/Logistics or similar course.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a commercial environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Knowledge and proven skills in:
- Budgeting
- KPI performance review
- Financial reporting
- Commercial business acumen
