What does the job look like?

As a Shift Manager Central Planning, you’ll be responsible for designing and optimising transport routes across our Ambient and Temperature controlled network, ensuring maximum efficiency and alignment with customer demands. This role plays a key part in reducing costs, improving delivery times, and elevating our service quality to our customer.

Based at our customer site in Kemps Creek, you will be required to work a 12 hour shift rotating roster commencing from either 4AM – 4PM or 5AM – 5PM. Key areas:

  • Input data from customer systems to develop daily load plans, meeting operational schedules
  • Optimize transport routes and schedules for metro and regional deliveries.
  • Leverage store window times, frequency, restrictions, and geographical locations to create cost-effective load plans.
  • Build and manage daily rosters, aiming to maximise labor and vehicle efficiency
  • Analyze performance data, identifying opportunities for network improvements
  • Collaborate closely with operations teams and customers to ensure accurate, timely deliveries.

  • Previous experience in planning, coordinating and analysis
  • Highly proficient in Excel, including the ability to create pivot tables, use SUM and COUNT functions, and perform VLOOKUPs. Experience in writing macros is a plus, although not essential
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills to enable effective stakeholder engagement and collaboration across internal and external stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of Melbourne metropolitan geographical locations for effective planning and route optimisation.
  • Attention to detail and experience managing conflicting priorities
