What does the job look like?

We are seeking a strategic and commercially focused General Manager – Commercial & Finance to lead our C&HG business unit. In this pivotal senior leadership role, you’ll be responsible for driving financial and commercial performance across all contracts, delivering exceptional value to our customers, and ensuring compliance with Linfox’s high standards of safety, integrity, and operational excellence. You’ll partner with executive leaders, oversee key customer relationships, and champion initiatives that enhance efficiency, profitability, and business growth.

Key responsibilities:

• Prepare board submissions and engage with the Board on strategic projects.
• Review pricing, tenders, and investment opportunities to maximize revenue and profitability.
• Present strategic plans and annual budgets to the CEO and CFO.
• Lead commercial negotiations and support customer growth and retention.
• Analyse financial and performance data to identify trends and cost-saving opportunities.
• Oversee financial and management reporting, long-term planning, and customer analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation across the business unit.
• Mitigate commercial risk through robust processes and controls.
• Build and maintain a high-performance culture, fostering trust and integrity.
• Ensure compliance with Linfox’s Code of Conduct and Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies.
• Lead, develop, and inspire large teams to deliver on business objectives.

Are you the one?

If you thrive in a senior leadership role where strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and operational excellence are key, this opportunity is for you. You’ll bring:

• At least 10 years’ experience in a senior management role within transport, logistics, or a similar industry.
• CPA, CA, or MBA qualifications.
• Extensive supply chain operational experience in medium to large organizations.
• Proven track record in business development and delivering business growth.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and drive high performance.
• Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and business analysis.
• Strategic thinking, planning, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing abilities.
• Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
• Capacity to work with complexity and ambiguity, and to build effective relationships at all levels.
