Heavy Diesel Mechanic – Build Your Career with Linfox
At Linfox, we believe that together anything is possible. As the largest privately owned logistics company in the Asia–Pacific region, we deliver essential goods across Australia and New Zealand and continue to invest in our people, our fleet and our future through advanced technology, strong safety standards and leading sustainability initiatives.
You will join a business that is modernising transport through Euro 6 engine technology, electric vehicle trials and our GreenFox sustainability programme. Our commitment to safety is reflected in Vision Zero, which focuses on eliminating injuries, incidents and environmental harm. Since its introduction, we have reduced Lost Time Injury Frequency Rates by more than ninety per cent.
A role with Linfox offers more than day-to-day work. It is a long-term career with a stable, respected and proudly Australian organisation.
What Does the Job Look Like?
As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, you will play an important part in maintaining one of Australia’s most modern and sustainable transport fleets.
Unlike many fleet workshops, heavy-duty tasks such as full engine rebuilds and gearbox overhauls are returned to the original equipment manufacturer.
This means our mechanics focus on general servicing, preventative maintenance and day-to-day repairs, creating a more consistent, manageable and less physically demanding working environment.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults in heavy vehicles.
- Inspecting, dismantling and reassembling key components such as engines, transmissions and steering systems, within the scope of standard maintenance work.
- Replacing defective parts in line with manufacturer requirements and Linfox standards.
- Carrying out routine servicing, lubrication and preventative maintenance to maximise performance and maintain emissions compliance.
- Conducting system tests following repairs to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Using advanced diagnostic tools and computer systems to identify faults accurately.
- Completing vehicle inspections, issuing roadworthy reports or advising on required repairs.
- Providing on-site mechanical support for breakdowns when required.
You will be working with technology and systems that reflect Linfox’s commitment to operating one of the safest, cleanest and most forward-thinking transport fleets in the country.
