What does the job look like?

As a Design Engineer in our Analytics and Design Services (ADS) team, you will lead the design and development of complex warehouse solutions across the Linfox network. With a focus on innovation, automation, and efficiency, you will play a critical role in delivering scalable and future-ready facilities that support our national operations.

Reporting to the Warehouse Solutions and Automation Manager, you will collaborate with business unit leaders, project teams, and external partners to design and deploy tailored warehousing solutions. Your designs will not only improve operational performance but also embed safety, sustainability, and progressive investment thinking into our supply chain footprint.

This role is open to candidates located in Essendon (VIC), or Oakdale (NSW).

Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Lead the design and evaluation of warehouse and automation solutions to meet strategic and operational needs.
• Provide subject matter expertise on warehouse layout, materials handling, and automation technologies.
• Conduct detailed analyses of storage, throughput, and handling efficiency to guide decision-making.
• Identify, assess, and apply emerging technologies that improve warehouse performance.
• Collaborate across commercial, operations, property, and IT teams to develop practical, scalable solutions.
• Support business development initiatives, RFPs, and project delivery with clear, technically sound recommendations.
• Promote and uphold Linfox’s Vision Zero safety strategy in all aspects of design and delivery.

Are you the one?

We’re seeking a strategic and solutions-oriented design engineer with a deep understanding of warehouse operations and automation. You combine technical expertise with commercial acumen and can confidently influence key stakeholders to drive best-in-class outcomes.

The ideal candidate can demonstrate:

• Proven experience in warehouse design and automation deployment.
• A strong background in engineering or logistics, ideally with tertiary qualifications.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and project delivery capabilities.
• Familiarity with relevant tools, methodologies, and continuous improvement frameworks.
• Proficiency with design and analytics tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Power BI, and Power Query will be highly regarded
