Our Bulk West team has signed a contract with Mineral Resources Limited (MinRes) to be the exclusive rail operator for haulage of iron ore from Koolyanobbing mine to Aurizon's Esperance Terminal, shunting into the Port of Esperance, rollingstock leasing and maintenance.

Aurizon has provided rail haulage and associated services to MinRes since early 2020. The new contract increased train services from 12 to 20 per week, which commenced late last year.

This will allow Aurizon to again grow its workforce in the west, with recruitment underway for qualified drivers at our Esperance depot.

About the role:

• Operation of locomotives including mainline, shunting and marshalling.
• Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
• Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures.
• Maintain a high level of on-time running.
• Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives.
• Provide high quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives. 

About you:  

• Strong commitment to safety and the Aurizon Safety Strategy “I Know Safe, I Choose Safe”.
• Must be available to work 24/7 shift roster.
• Experience in WA Safeworking System is advantageous.
• Extensive freight and/or heavy haulage locomotive driving experience.
• A certificate IV in Rail Operations or equivalent) 
• Current unrestricted Class C drivers licence.
