About the role:

  • Responsible for ensuring the requirements of the company's rail safety management system are met to the level required of the position.
  • Responsible and accountable for preparing rosters, including leave rosters, for Locomotive Drivers and Terminal Staff at numerous Aurizon locations
  • Ensuring that rosters are prepared in the most efficient and economical manner and are in line with rostering principles.
  • Maintain rostering compliance with Aurizon Collective Agreement.
  • Maintain crew efficiencies through proactive rostering practices.
  • Participate in business transformation projects.
  • Monitor and arrange for deployment of Locomotive Drivers to meet operational demands as required.
  • Ensure all rosters are assessed for fatigue levels and if necessary, risk assessments undertaken in accordance with Aurizon’s policies and procedures.
  • Undertake rostering projects using the Crew Rostering Model.
  • Coordinate assessments and training requirements in consultation with the Aurizon Training department and Operations Specialists.
  • Perform and assist the wider team in maximising efficiency and meeting collaborative deadlines and targets.
  • Assist teams with changes to service plans, asset loading, resource allocations, and customer requirements.

About you:

  • Exceptional attitude towards safety and demonstrated safe behaviours in the workplace.
  • Previous experience in logistical planning and rostering systems, and exposure to systems testing in a planning environment (desirable).
  • A dedicated team player with superior attention to detail and ability to be flexible.
  • Have a broad administration skill set with significant computer and excel experience.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to engage and build strong relationships with key stakeholders and customers.
  • Excellent time management and ability to keep calm under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Microsoft suite and sound general knowledge of rostering software.
