About the role:
Join Aurizon’s Control Systems Engineering team and play a key role in delivering critical telecommunications and asset protection monitoring projects across our rail network.
In this role, you’ll plan, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of engineering projects that enhance operational networks and introduce new technologies and solutions. You’ll work closely with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure every project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
You’ll be responsible for coordinating and delivering telecommunications and asset protection equipment works for both external customer projects and asset renewals. Working alongside project managers, internal staff, and contractors, you’ll manage the construction, testing, and commissioning of telecommunication and asset
protection systems for new and existing installations.
Other responsibilities will include but aren’t limited to:
- Work closely with asset managers, project managers, clients, stakeholders, and external partners, coordinating project plans, scopes, programs, budgets, and risk management to meet customer requirements.
- Develop construction and asset management strategies, plan resources, estimate costs, and coordinate procurement for both preliminary and detailed project pricing.
- Conduct risk analysis across projects, integrating controls for safety, quality, environment, commercial conditions, and pricing to ensure successful delivery.
- Oversee project implementation, monitor programs and budgets, and manage change processes for scope, pricing, and schedules to keep projects on track.
- Plan and allocate construction and asset management resources efficiently, balancing workloads while meeting client expectations.
Technical Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Advanced diploma in Engineering or equivalent approved qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant technical experience
About you:
- Deep knowledge of asset management, infrastructure construction, maintenance, and safety standards.
- Strong planning, estimating, monitoring, and forecasting skills for project and operational budgets.
- Proven ability to plan and program construction resources, including personnel and plant.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
- High motivation, collaborative mindset, and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong computing skills, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
