About the role:
Reporting to the Supply Contract Performance Lead, the Materials Expeditor plays a key role in ensuring the seamless and safe coordination of supply chain processes, material demand, and warehouse management practices. This role is vital in supporting the operational needs of the division by driving efficiency and reliability across the materials flow. Success in this position hinges on strong collaboration with internal maintenance and material planning teams, as well as fostering effective partnerships with external vendors to ensure timely delivery and availability of critical materials.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and expedite the materials demand planning process for maintenance depot/s adhering to project timelines.
- Coordinator with Suppliers, vendors and internal teams to resolve any issues related to material shortages or delays
- Monitor inventory levels and assess supply chain performance to identify opportunities for improvement
- Prepare and analyse reports on material status and forecast potential supply chain disruptions

- Coordinate with international vendors, forwarding agents, supporting international import and exports freight requirements for Aurizon rotable components
- Develop and execute short term specific material distribution plans including changes to requirements (ad-hoc requests and operational urgency) to deliver materials in accordance with the requirements of project, maintenance and recovery.
- Establish and maintain effective and timely working relationships with internal/external stakeholders to support materials requirements being met. This includes leveraging relationship to expediting materials.
- Support Supply Chain team to ensure timely goods receipt, issuing, safety efficient freight utilisation, stocktake compliance and management of unplanned movement of inventory.
About you:
With extensive experience in rail operations and a strong background in materials management and planning, you bring a practical understanding of what it takes to keep supply chains running smoothly. Your excellent interpersonal skills support clear, cross-functional communication, and your ability to influence and negotiate allows you to work effectively with a diverse range of teams and stakeholders across the business.
- Substantial organisational skills to effectively coordinate operations in a team environment.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to optimise business processes.
- Understanding of the financial implications of inventory management.
- Willingness and ability to meet goals and implement change in a Warehouse environment.
- Certificate III in Warehousing however, tertiary qualification in Business, Management, Logistic, Engineering or related discipline is preferred.
- Experience with SAP and sound Microsoft skills
- Sound Load restraint expertise or qualifications.
- High Risk Forklift and C class Drivers Licence.
- Sound knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) and Risk Assessments including reviews.
