Aurizon is Australia’s largest rail freight operator, playing a critical role in supporting industry and regional communities. We are currently seeking an experienced Safety Partner to join our Safety, Health, Environment and Learning team on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract.

This role will support the Lead Contractor Safety and work closely with leaders across the business to embed safe work practices, strengthen safety culture, and ensure compliance across a high‑risk operational environment.

About the role

As Safety Partner, you will:

  • Partner with business leaders to implement safety initiatives and monitor safety performance
  • Provide practical safety advice, coaching and guidance to frontline and leadership teams
  • Support the development of a strong safety and wellbeing culture
  • Facilitate safety action plans, improvement initiatives and change management activities
  • Undertake governance and assurance activities, including audits and compliance checks
  • Participate in and support internal workplace investigations
  • Prepare safety reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate across multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver enterprise and business unit initiatives

About you

You are a confident safety professional who can influence, coach and partner effectively in a complex, operational environment. You’ll bring:

Mandatory requirements

  • Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a safety role within a high‑risk industry
  • Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation and regulatory requirements

Highly regarded

  • ICAM investigation training
  • Auditor qualifications
  • Experience delivering safety‑related projects and improvement initiatives

You’ll also have strong communication skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a collaborative approach when working with internal stakeholders.
