Apprentice Tradesperson - Mechanical
Fixed & Mobile Plant Mechanic (Fixed Plant Mechanic)
Aurizon is seeking applications for Apprentice Tradesperson Mechanical roles. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are keen to learn a trade and build a long‑term career with Australia’s largest rail freight operator.
Qualification You Will Gain:
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will obtain:
Certificate III in Engineering – Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic (Fixed Plant Mechanic)

Essential Requirements:
- School Leavers: Successful completion of OLNA or NAPLAN Year 9 with Band 8 results
- Non‑School Leavers: Minimum C grades in Year 10 English and Mathematics, or equivalent
- Qualifications: AQF Certificate I or Certificate II (or equivalent)
Preferred (but not essential):
- Demonstrated work experience in a mechanical, trade, or industrial environment
or
- part‑time employment while attending school
- Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent)
- Completion of a mechanical trade pre‑apprenticeship or other relevant school‑based program
Pre‑Employment Requirements:
Appointment to these roles is subject to successfully passing pre‑employment requirements, including:
- Aptitude and/or psychometric testing
- Reference checks
- Medical assessment
