About the role:
Reporting to the Regional Operations Leader, this is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of the daily operations of Aurizon’s Cloncurry Container Terminal and make a real impact. In this role, you will deliver safe, efficient and customer-focused outcomes while leading machine operators, contractors and customers across the site. While the terminal supports a 24/7 operation, this position is a Monday to Friday role, offering great work-life balance alongside the chance to grow your career into an operational leadership position. This role will see you:
- Champion a safety culture based on values and principles by achieving and implementing all safety standards, systems, and initiatives to a standard of excellence.
- Plan, coordinate and supervise the end-to-end operational requirements of the Cloncurry Container Terminal facilities.
- Provide coaching, support, and leadership to employees to assist in achieving performance objectives.
- Ensure capacity management is provided as defined by customer agreements and maintain Aurizon performance reporting for the precinct ensuring Customer obligations are achieved.
- Supervise and assist local incident management and undertake investigations as they arise within the operational environments.
- Plan and manage resources to ensure the Container Terminal operations meet customer demand.
About you:
- Previous leadership experience in rail operations is strongly preferred, with exposure to terminal, freight, logistics or heavy industrial environments highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of operational safety, compliance and standard operating procedures within a safety-critical environment.
- Proven ability to lead, influence and engage diverse teams, contractors and stakeholders to deliver results.
- Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating day-of-operations activities to meet customer and business requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve operational performance.
