About the role

Aurizon is seeking a safety-focused and experienced Non-Rail Mechanic to join our Rollingstock Maintenance team at Berrimah within our Bulk Central business. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring non-rail assets (e.g. Loaders, reach stackers & conveyor systems) and associated equipment are maintained in a safe, reliable, and operational condition, supporting critical freight and maintenance operations.

You will conduct routine, corrective, and fault-related maintenance activities in line with prescribed methods, technical standards, and WHS requirements. This position plays an important role in maintaining operational performance through accurate reporting, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement practices.

This is a hands-on role suited to a trade-qualified Mechanical professional who enjoys working as part of a collaborative maintenance team while taking accountability for the quality and safety of their work.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine and corrective maintenance and fault repairs on non-rail assets and associated equipment
  • Perform all work in accordance with WHS requirements, legislation, and Aurizon safety standards
  • Work to technical and operational specifications and prescribed maintenance methods
  • Maintain accurate records relating to asset condition, maintenance activities, and costing systems
  • Report actual work performed against scheduled work programs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through the application of work procedures and practices
  • Participate in safety, team, and operational discussions as required

About you

You are a qualified Mechanical trade professional with a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork. You’re confident working with technical instructions and drawings and take pride in maintaining equipment to a high standard.

You will bring:

  • Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent – essential
  • Demonstrated experience in repair, maintenance, and overhaul of mechanical assets and components
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability across mechanical equipment
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions and drawings
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of WHS legislation, regulations, and safe work practices
  • Reliable work ethic and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to meet NHS Category 3 medical requirements
