About the role:
Aurizon is seeking an experienced Lead Learning and Development (L&D) Governance to drive the delivery of enterprise-wide learning governance and compliance frameworks that support safe, effective and legally compliant operations.
In this pivotal role, you will lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of learning governance, assurance activities and training systems, ensuring alignment with regulatory obligations and Aurizon’s risk profile. You’ll partner with safety, operational and corporate stakeholders to embed best-practice learning solutions and build organisational capability.
This role will see you:
- Lead the implementation of L&D governance frameworks to ensure alignment with legislative and regulatory training requirements
- Oversee assurance activities that strengthen compliance, mitigate risk and drive continuous improvement
- Manage and enhance learning systems, processes and governance activities across the enterprise
- Partner with SMEs to improve system functionality, reporting and effectiveness
- Collaborate with leaders and teams to design and deliver training programs aligned to operational needs
- Build strong partnerships to embed governance standards and drive consistency
- Lead safety, training and governance improvement initiatives across the business
- Support strategic programs by delivering governance-driven change outcomes
- Provide expert advice, coaching and mentoring to leaders on L&D compliance and legislative requirements
- Promote knowledge sharing and uplift capability across the organisation
- Champion a collaborative, accountable and safety-focused culture across the L&D and safety community
About you:
You are a governance-focused L&D professional with strong experience designing and implementing compliant learning solutions in complex operational environments.
- Proven experience building and managing L&D systems, frameworks and governance processes (mandatory)
- Strong knowledge of the Australian Quality Training Framework and relevant legislation for a Registered Training Organisation.
- Experience in vocational training, assessment and adult learning principles
- Advanced stakeholder engagement and change management capability
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills
- Experience leading and influencing across diverse stakeholder groups
- Degree qualification in a relevant discipline
- Cert IV in Training & Assessment (or equivalent)
- Experience in safety-critical or regulated industries
