Location: Acacia Ridge, Brisbane

Aurizon is currently seeking a shunt qualified Freight Operator (Level 4) for our Acacia Ridge depot.

This role will suit someone who is keen to commence working in the rail industry with good concentration skills and situational awareness. This role will see you involved in coordinating movements of trains within a complex and busy yard.

About the role:

• Shunting and yard duties (including cleaning/provisioning)
• Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
• Undertake the theoretical and practical components of the training program.
• Ensure that the loading and unloading of customer's products are carried out efficiently and safely.
• Conduct brake testing of trains.
• Effectively communicate with other depot personnel face to face and via two way radio.
• Drive Aurizon motor vehicles as required
• Work in accordance with Aurizons safety and operational standards and procedures

About you:

Ideally with recent experience, you are able to display superior teamwork skills, flexibility, a high level of safety awareness and customer service. 

• Shunt Qualified or the ability to obtain
• C Class Manual Drivers Licence (mandatory).
• A willingness to work a 24/7 roster and shift lengths of up to 12 hours.
• Strong commitment to safety.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.

As a part of the company's recruitment and selection process shortlisted applicants will be required to undertake psychometric testing, criminal history check and successfully pass a pre-employment health assessment that will involve drug and alcohol screening.
