About the role

Aurizon is seeking a talented Senior Asset Analyst to join our dynamic Network team. As a Senior Asset Analyst Aurizon Network, you will play a crucial role in unlocking the value of data to drive insights, and drive data-driven decision-making to support asset management strategies and objectives for our railway assets.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about our critical railway assets, with chances to go on site to see firsthand how the civil, electrical, and control systems assets are managed through their lifecycle to meet customer demand.

Role Overview

This role is suited for someone who enjoys analysing data and drawing insights to improve asset performance and management strategy. You'll be part of a small, dynamic team with a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

We are looking for a skilled and analytical professional with a passion drawing insights from complex datasets.

You will be responsible for -

  • Design, develop and maintain reporting tools and processes, including compliance reporting against Asset Strategy metrics and targets.
  • Proactively engage with internal stakeholders to understand needs and requirements, identify evidence-based improvement opportunities, and provide recommendations.
  • Collaborate across diverse teams to support asset management strategies (including system and corridor strategies) through scenario, lever and trade-off analysis (maintenance, renewal, performance, reliability and access).
  • Ensure data integrity and monitor reporting quality, including an understanding of data hierarchy, and highlight and implement data quality improvements.
  • Undertake correlation and causal analysis, and communicate and present findings to Asset Management, leaders and governance forums.
  • Provide support to analyse asset reliability and condition to support in the development of Asset Management Plans to meet strategies.
  • Provide support to undertake larger pieces of statistical analysis to inform asset management strategy.  
  • Provide input to key reporting deliverables for the Maintenance and Renewal Budget and Strategy and support the development and delivery of the technology roadmap.

About you

Technical Skills:

  • Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in IT, Business Intelligence, Engineering, Data Science, or Finance.

Specific Skills Required:

  • Analytical Expertise: High level of analytical, research and problem solving skills to provide value adding solutions and recommendations through to outcomes. 
  • Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience working with reporting software and other relevant technologies used to extract data and analyse data. Extensive Experience designing and developing data models in reporting software
  • Extensive systems experience and development and implementation of business intelligence tools: Power BI, Tableau, SAP Hana & languages - SQL, M Language, DAX, R or Python.
  • Stakeholder engagement and communication: Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate and present insights and recommendations to a range of audiences.
  • Data quality and governance: Demonstrated capability to ensure data quality for assets, corridors and systems, including understanding and applying data hierarchy concepts to support decision-making.
  • Asset management strategy capability: Experience supporting the development of system/corridor strategies and associated artefacts, including documenting asset management levers and trade-offs, and contributing to asset strategy and performance narrative for business cases and reports.
  • Long-term planning and scenario analysis: Ability to support the development of long-term maintenance and renewal plans under different demand scenarios, to help identify recommended strategies.
  • Consistent Growth and development: High level of skill working both autonomously and collaboratively in a team.
