About the role

We are currently seeking a Business Services Support professional to join Aurizon on a 3-month temporary basis, providing backfill support while a team member undertakes a development opportunity.

This is a hands-on, front-of-house role based at our Murray Street administration building and nearby training centre in Rockhampton. You’ll play an important role in keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly while delivering a professional and welcoming experience for visitors, employees and the local community.

This is a busy, people-facing role suited to someone who enjoys variety, stays organised under pressure and can quickly step in and make an impact.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will be responsible for a range of business support activities, including:

  • Acting as the first point of contact at reception, welcoming visitors, employees and contractors
  • Managing meeting room bookings, calendars and room set-ups
  • Coordinating catering requests, including set-up and clean-up
  • Handling incoming calls and general enquiries in a professional and courteous manner
  • Managing shared mailboxes and ensuring timely responses
  • Processing incoming and outgoing mail and coordinating courier services
  • Monitoring and ordering office consumables (e.g. stationery, kitchen supplies)
  • Supporting facilities coordination including maintenance requests and inspections
  • Printing and issuing ID cards in line with security requirements
  • Providing support across both the administration building and training centre
  • Assisting with ad hoc administrative tasks such as printing, binding and mail-outs

About you

You’ll be someone who can quickly get up to speed, take ownership of tasks and maintain a high level of service in a fast-paced environment. Ideally, you will bring:

  • Experience in reception, customer service, call centre or administrative support roles
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-first mindset
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • A proactive, reliable and adaptable approach
  • Confidence working in a high-traffic, people-focused environment
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
  • Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
  • Experience with meeting coordination, inbox management, mail handling or inventory (desirable)
  • Ability to safely undertake manual handling tasks
