Roster and Remuneration / Benefits:

This is a permanent, residential role based in Forrestfield — not FIFO.
You’ll be home every night, working steady hours with strong pay under an Enterprise Agreement.

Roster – 3‑week rotating (with ADOs):

  • Week 1: Monday to Saturday – 0600 to 1400
  • Week 2: Monday to Friday – 0600 to 1400
  • Week 3: Monday to Friday – 1400 to 2200
  • Accrued Day Off: One paid day off every four weeks (ADO)

Trade Hourly pay (EA rates):

  • Current: $51.35 per hour + penalties (Entry level with potential to increase to $56.24 per hour within 12 months)
  • Saturday and afternoon shift penalties apply
  • Average earnings + $130,000 p.a plus super

None Trade Hourly pay (EA rates):

  • Current: $36.15 per hour + penalties (Entry level with potential to increase to $45.46 per hour within 12 months)
  • Saturday and afternoon shift penalties apply
  • Average earnings + $110,000 p.a plus super

This role offers excellent pay without the FIFO lifestyle and long‑term security with Australia’s largest rail freight operator.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Mechanical Tradesperson or None Trade Mechanically minded individuals to join the Forrestfield Rollingstock Maintenance team.
This role suits tradespeople who want stable work, good money, and to stay local.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing rollingstock (Wagons) to keep freight moving safely and reliably across WA.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Mechanical servicing, maintenance and fault repairs on rollingstock (Wagons)
  • Inspections and identification of defects
  • Ensuring work is completed to safety and technical standards
  • Recording maintenance activities and completed work
  • Supporting other WA depots as required under the EA

Full training on rail‑specific systems will be provided if you don’t already have rail experience.

About You

You’ll need:

  • Mechanical Trade Certificate (desirable)
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions and drawings
  • Additional licences such as HR or Forklift are advantageous, not mandatory.

Pre‑employment rail medical and drug & alcohol screening apply.
